Salish Firekeeper Society
Client: Savage Society - Salish Firekeeper Society
Sector: Indigenous Organization
Service: Video production and storytelling
Many people believe that today’s catastrophic wildfires are an unavoidable consequence of climate change and modern life. The Salish Firekeepers are actively challenging that narrative. By revitalizing ancestral cultural burning practices, they are restoring long-standing relationships between fire, land, and community. These practices reduce fuel loads, support soil health, and strengthen local plant, animal, and human ecosystems. Narrative Shift is currently collaborating with the Salish Firekeepers on a video project that highlights the benefits of cultural burning and amplifies Indigenous knowledge systems that have stewarded these lands for generations.
